Japanese Rice Paper Table Lamp
Meet the Japanese Rice Paper Lantern Tripod Table Lamp – a Japanese paper lantern table lamp on a tripod of three slim black wire legs, with a wire hoop arching over the egg-shaped, cream-white ribbed shade. It is the soft glow bedside table lamp for bedroom and living room – an ambient lamp rather than a task light. Dust with a dry soft brush and keep the paper away from water.
Why You’ll Love It
- The whole shade is the light – Light comes through the paper rather than out of the ends, so nothing in the room casts a hard edge.
- Warm tonight, cooler for reading – Three selectable light colors from the included bulb.
- Small enough for any surface – Light enough to move between a bedside, a console and a windowsill without crowding any of them.
- Ready to plug in – Bulb included, US plug on the cord – out of the box and on.

01
The shade is the light
Paper diffuses rather than directs, so the whole shade glows and nothing in the room takes a hard-edged shadow. It is the difference between a lamp you look at and a lamp you sit under.
02
Three colors, one lamp
Warm for the evening, neutral for reading, cooler for a working corner. The same lamp covers all three without swapping the bulb.
03
Small enough to move
Light, compact and with a wire hoop over the top, it moves between a bedside, a console and a window sill without any fuss.
Frequently asked questions
Is a bulb included?
Yes, the bulb is included and offers three selectable light colors.
What plug does it come with?
A US plug. It is a mains lamp, not a rechargeable one.
How do I clean a paper shade?
Dust it with a dry soft brush. Do not use water or any cleaner on the paper.
Is it bright enough to read by?
It is an ambient lamp rather than a task light. For reading in bed, a directional bedside or wall light will serve you better.
